Privacy Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

This page explains what information PetVet collects when you use the site, why, who else handles it, and how you can see, change, or delete it. We've tried to keep it plain and specific.

The short version

  • We collect what you give us (like your name and email when you write a review) and basic usage data through Google Analytics, Plausible, OpenPanel, and Vercel Web Analytics.
  • Reviews are public, including the name and pet name you give with them.
  • We don't sell your personal information, and we don't currently use advertising cookies or ad-tracking pixels.
  • We never see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by Stripe.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information at any time through our contact form.

1. Who we are

PetVet Directory (petvet.directory) is operated by The Clix Group, LLC, doing business as Clix ("PetVet," "we," "us"). We run a directory that helps pet owners find veterinarians, dog parks, and trainers, read and write reviews, and helps clinics manage their listings.

This policy covers the website and the services on it. Clinic websites that embed our review widget, and other sites we link to, have their own privacy policies.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your account. Your name, email address, and password when you sign up. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we can't see them.
  • Reviews. Your rating, title, review text, and optionally your pet's name. If you write a review without signing in, we also ask for your name and email so we can confirm the review is yours.
  • Messages to us. Your name, email, the topic you pick, and your message when you use the contact form.
  • Clinic owners and staff. When you claim a listing: your name, your role at the clinic, a phone number, and an optional message. When you manage a listing: clinic details (address, phone, email, website, hours, services, the lead vet's name) and photos, including staff headshots you choose to upload.
  • Review invites. Clinics can send a review invitation to a client. The clinic gives us the client's email address and, optionally, the pet's name. We use it only to send that invitation and to avoid sending repeats.
  • Payments. Clinics that buy Premium pay through Stripe's secure checkout page. Stripe collects the card details. We keep only a Stripe customer and subscription reference, and the status of the subscription.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data. Google Analytics records things like the pages you visit, how you got here, your general location (based on your IP address), and your device and browser type. Plausible and Vercel Web Analytics count page visits and listing clicks without cookies and without storing your IP address. OpenPanel also groups the pages you view and the listing links you click during a visit into an anonymous session, so we can see how people move through the site. It doesn't use cookies and isn't tied to your name or account.
  • Listing activity. We count views of clinic profiles and clicks on their call, directions, website, and review links, so clinics can see how their listing performs. These counts are not tied to your name, account, or IP address.
  • Technical data. Like any website, our hosting and database providers receive your IP address and browser details with each request and keep standard server logs. Our contact form also passes your IP address to Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you're not a bot.
  • Your location, only if you allow it. If you use "Center on me" or allow location on the vet finder, your browser shares your location so we can sort results by distance. We round it to about 1 km (roughly half a mile) before using it, and we don't save it to your account or our database. The rounded location is included in the page address, so it can appear in standard server logs and in Google Analytics page data. You can say no, or turn location off in your browser at any time.

Information from other sources

Clinic, dog park, and trainer listings are built from public sources, including Google. We also analyze the text of public Google reviews to show common themes (like "gentle with anxious dogs") on clinic profiles. We don't store or show the names of Google reviewers.

We don't collect sensitive information such as health, financial account, or government ID details about you.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Create and secure your account and sign you in.
  • Confirm, publish, and moderate reviews under our Review Policy.
  • Verify clinic claims, run clinic listings and dashboards, and process Premium subscriptions.
  • Send emails you need: account confirmation, password resets, review confirmations, review invitations, and updates about your claim, listing, or review. We don't send newsletters or marketing email, and we don't send text messages.
  • Answer your messages and support requests.
  • Understand how the site is used so we can improve it, and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
  • Comply with the law and enforce our policies.

4. What's public

  • Reviews. Your name (or the first part of your email address if you didn't give a name), your pet's name if you added it, your rating, review text, and the date are shown on the clinic's PetVet page. Clinics can also show their PetVet reviews on their own website using our review widget.
  • Clinic notifications. When you post a review, the clinic's owner (or, for clinics not yet claimed, the PetVet team member who looks after that clinic) gets an email with your review and the name shown on it.
  • Clinic replies. Replies from clinic owners are shown publicly under the review.
  • Listings. Everything on a clinic listing is public, including the clinic's phone, email, the lead vet's name, and uploaded photos.

Your email address is never shown publicly.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run PetVet, each for the job listed:

  • Supabase: database, file storage, and sign-in.
  • Vercel: website hosting and Web Analytics.
  • Plausible: privacy-friendly site analytics.
  • OpenPanel: anonymous visit and session analytics.
  • Resend: sending our emails.
  • Stripe: payments for Premium.
  • Google: Analytics, and Maps for the maps and directions on the site.
  • Cloudflare: spam protection on the contact form.
  • Google Workspace: our email inbox, where replies and contact messages arrive.

We may also share information:

  • With the clinic you review, as described above.
  • If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PetVet, our users, or others.
  • As part of a merger, sale, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business.

Advertising. We don't currently use advertising cookies or ad-tracking pixels. We may advertise PetVet in the future, for example with Google Ads or Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads. Before we add any ad tracking to the site, we'll update this policy and explain how to opt out.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Sign-in cookies keep you logged in. The site can't work without them when you use an account.
  • Google Analytics cookies measure how the site is used. You can block them with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser settings. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google Maps and Cloudflare Turnstile may set their own cookies when a map or the contact form loads.
  • Session storage in your browser remembers which clinic profiles you've viewed during a visit, so a page refresh isn't counted twice.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking sign-in cookies will stop you from staying logged in. Our Cookie Policy explains your choices in more detail.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. There is no agreed standard for Do Not Track, so we don't respond to it. Because we don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is currently nothing for a Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. If that changes, we'll honor it.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account information is kept while your account is open.
  • Reviews stay published until you ask us to remove them, or we remove them under our Review Policy.
  • Contact messages, clinic claims, and review invitations are kept so we can follow up and keep records, until you ask us to delete them.
  • Payment records are kept as long as needed for tax and accounting requirements.

When we no longer need information, or you ask us to delete it, we delete it or remove what identifies you, unless the law requires us to keep it. Copies in backups are removed as the backups expire.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls that limit who can see what. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee that your information will never be accessed without permission. If you think your account has been compromised, reset your password and let us know.

9. Children

PetVet is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy.
  • Correct information that's wrong, including the name shown on your reviews.
  • Delete your account, your reviews, or other information about you.
  • Stop using your information where we rely on your consent.

How to make a request. Use our contact form and choose "Privacy request" as the topic. Tell us what you'd like us to do. To protect your information, we'll confirm the request with the email address on your account (or the one you used with us) before acting on it. We respond within 45 days, and we'll tell you if we need more time.

You can also reset your password yourself at any time from the password reset page.

We will never treat you differently, or charge you more, for using your privacy rights.

11. US state privacy rights

Residents of some US states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and a growing number of others, have legal privacy rights. Depending on where you live, these can include the right to:

  • Know whether we process your personal information, and access it.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information.
  • Get a copy of your information in a portable format.
  • Opt out of the sale of your information, targeted advertising, or profiling. We don't do any of these today.
  • Get a list of the categories of third parties, or the specific third parties, we share information with. They are listed in section 5.

Authorized agents. You can have someone make a request for you. We may ask for signed permission and confirm the request with you directly.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or sending a new message through the contact form. We'll answer in writing and explain our reasons. If we deny your appeal, you can contact your state attorney general.

California "Shine the Light." We don't share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.

12. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices change or the law requires it, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll point it out on the site or email account holders before it takes effect.
